"The Agreement Is an Insult."
The German and Namibian governments negotiated a reconciliation agreement regarding the genocide of Ovaherero and Nama peoples by German colonial forces in the early 20th century - without involving the descendants. Germany recognised the act as genocide “from today’s perspective”. Ngondi Kamatuka, one of the descendants, analyses the failures of the agreement and discusses what needs to change in order for this agreement to be accepted.
